Dear Livejournal,

Why are you still screwing up your own coding sometimes when I try to do anything on you? I hate you so much right now. Just thought I'd let you know.

No love,
Me

Anyways, that out of my system... I've been rambling on to several friends on aim (and off) about the general plot bunny type thing that has been eating my brain lately. (Curse you random K-pop music video!)

So for ease of well... ease I thought I'd go ahead and post my current notes on the general background and world for it all.

It's not the most cohesive thing ever, but I'm up for hearing opinions and ideas about it. I'm kind of thinking up a vague character for the setting already to play around with in dressing rooms and the like.

It's not very neat and written in spurts so I'm pretty sure my verb tense changes a time or three. Sorry about that I'll polish it all up nice and pretty eventually I promise.

In the year 2012 the world ended. Not that it stopped existing or anything like that, it might have been easier and much more merciful if it had. A large part of the world's population vanished seemingly overnight. Race, age, sex, religion it didn't seem to matter. People were just gone. Some blamed the rapture and others blamed aliens. There was one thing that everyone agreed with though, people were gone and there wasn't anything they could do about it.

Chaos descended on the world as civilization slowly started to crumble. After all, how could the world survive the way it had with so many of the jobs unfilled as their owner's had vanished? Blackouts became more prevalent as well as food and water shortages as people frantically tried to consolidate so that they could survive. Unfortunately, the largest group of people who had vanished were the twenty plus group. Plainly speaking there weren't enough adults in the world to keep society going.

Anarchy soon became a fact of life as politicians soon found they had no real power in this new world with hardly any police or militaries to help them keep control. Gangs soon ruled the streets, especially in countries that had once been highly populated. Japan was especially hit hard as several gangs soon tried to take power over the well stocked cities (like Tokyo).

Not to say that the politicians who were left took this in sitting down. They did their best to try and retain some semblance of order, but it just wasn't enough. A lack of people to enforce anything had their hands tied. Soon a global government was formed to try and pick up the pieces before the gangs destroyed what was left of humanity. Each survivor was given two dog tags that served as their only form of identification. They were used for everything from identification, proof of age, buying things from the few remaining running stores, proving citizenship, and well... everything basically. Those dogtags were your life more or less. Gangs made a habit out of stealing people's dogtags both for money purposes and just because they could. The teenagers ran away with this though and soon it was tradition that you'd give your second tag to your girlfriend/boyfriend as a sign that you were serious about each other. After all, it meant you trusted them with everything about you including your government name.

Despite society's rapid decline into anarchy medicine and technology continue to flourish. Stimulants and drugs are on the rise, some gangs basing their entire operation around the buying and selling of such things. Implants have also become increasingly more common mankind's obsession with micro-sizing technology allowing them to take computers, phones, and cameras to new heights.

Actual computer terminals have become obsolete as implants are now the favored way of accessing the internet. This allows people an even more connected experience at the expense of their personal life being even more exposed to the general public. Hackers are now even more of a social pariah than ever before since with the new technology they're practically hacking into someone's brain. Still, the big gangs each one really good hacker on retainer as their secret weapon, though often a hacker is only called out to go up against other hackers.

Spies have become even more rampant as well as it's become easier than ever to get visual or audible proof that someone is guilty when the spies eyes and ears alone are enough to capture the evidence. Needless to say, the big gangs that actually break the law and cross the government aren't very open or trusting when it comes to strangers.

Now if LJ behaves I'm going to work on a new layout code while waiting for the first Frontier movie to download.

I was thinking it would make an ace OC rp tbh :D
Although if you did want to make it a panfandom one, you could always make it AU?

I think it works best as an OC rp and that's coming from someone who's been playing largely from AU rps lately too.

I just don't think AUing characters quite works somehow. I dunno, maybe I'm just being too picky or something.
