Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.

The intent of these posts is to chat and have some fun and, sure, vent a little as required. Reasoned debate is fine, as always, but if you have to ask if something is going over the line, think carefully before posting please.

Normal board rules about conduct and behaviour still apply, of course.

It's been suggested that, if discussing spoilers for recent media events, it might be advisable to consider using the rot13 method to prevent other members seeing spoilers in passing.

The world situation is the world situation. If you're following the news, you know it as much as I do, if you're not, then there are better sources than scans_daily. But please, no doomscrolling, for your own sake.

Every couple of weeks I dive into the headlines, hoping there might be some news that it's actually possible to share without a mental health warning. And again I am disappointed.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 starts this week, so there's that, I guess.

Oh, and another UK heatwave, with the possibility of another this coming weekend. Yay?

Hi! Around 13th of July has been the "middle of summer" in Finland and Estonia at least historically (because it's the warmest time of summer, not related to sun's movements) and in Estonia it's also been called the Bear's Day. That's why I wanted to share a little bear related runosong (traditional Finnic oral poetry) if that's okay by the rules! With my clumsy translation. It is a spell or chant or prayer so a bear wouldn't attack cattle :]

Pareidolia is related to patterns, echoing this three-years-in Batman maxi-series' subtitle.

It's also related to perception, echoing the motifs of the two previous stories. We Are The Wounded concerned tactile feeling, and The Voice In The Tower was audial - it'd ended on the rejection and acceptance of guiding voices.

Pareidolia opens on the acknowledgement of another motif that occurred in those two stories: ' [Gotham City, y]ou have always suffered fires. '
